It is a very exciting time for our Uganda program!
Agape Babies Home has officially opened their doors. The facility received a favorable final inspection early in February. Our in-country partner Joseph Sserwaada and his experienced staff have been waiting for their first call to care for a child in need and that call was received on February 26th. This is Joseph’s second children’s home in the Kampala area. He is also the director of Agape House where school-aged children live in a familial setting.
Agape Babies Home was established to offer a safe and stable setting for children ages 0-5 to be cared for. Each child’s background is meticulously investigated. In some cases, it is likely that international adoption will offer a path for a brighter future for some of the children relinquished to the care of Agape Babies Home.
CAS is committed to helping the new facility with start-up needs and ongoing support. Needs include baby care items, household appliances, caregiver salaries, and more. You can view the Agape Baby Home Wishlist if you would like to consider donating items or providing a monetary donation for the home. You can find a gallery of images of the home on our Orphan Care: Uganda page.
Several CAS families are in the final stages of their Uganda adoptions and we anticipate several travel dates soon. Program Coordinator Allie Hamel recently hosted a webinar about Adopting from Uganda, which you can watch at your convenience through this playback link: Uganda Adoption Webinar Recording.
