Allie Hamel, our program coordinator for Haiti, will be visiting our friends at Maison des Anges crèche at the end of June. Maison des Anges, the House of Angels, has been our Haiti adoption partner for several years. In addition to forming many happy families, CAS is also committed to offering ongoing needed support for the orphanage, and the babies and children there.
The staff at MDA has been working harder than ever to prepare for Haiti’s transition to the Hague Convention. Everyone is doing a wonderful job of implementing some new changes, including working more closely with IBESR staff on assigning referrals for families. As always, all the nannies, nurses, and staff continue to provide an outstanding quality of care to the children.
CAS would like to go above and beyond to show MDA how much we appreciate their extraordinary efforts throughout the Hague transition. There is a great need at the crèche for both monetary support and children’s supplies.
Donations collected will be provided dollar-for-dollar to Maison des Anges for the salaries of nurses and nannies.
Allie will be bringing as many other donations as possible in suitcases. We will be collecting the following needed items which can be taken in-person by Allie or by future travelling families (listed in order of preference):
- Over-the-counter children’s medicines, vitamins, and first aid supplies
- Crib sheets
- Lotion and toiletries
- Children’s plates, bowls, sippy cups, forks, and spoons
- Children’s clothes (Toddler to Age 6 sizes)
Donations may be dropped off at the CAS offices in downtown Greensboro any time Monday through Thursday from 9am to 5pm, and until Noon on Fridays. CAS staff members are available to arrange for pickups in the Winston-Salem and Raleigh areas as well. Please contact us to arrange the details.
CAS is located at 301 North Elm Street, Suite 201, Greensboro NC, 27401.
Donations for this trip must be received by Thursday, June 19th.
