Christmas (Sekukkulu) is the most important and widely celebrated holiday in Uganda! On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day churches are filled with families in bright new clothing. In Uganda the focus of Sekukkulu is on spending time with family and friends, new clothes, and enjoying a nice meal together, it is not about presents. Families begin to plan for Christmas in October and many offices close from the middle of December until the middle of January.
