Program & Process

Your completed dossier of required documents is sent to our representative in Armenia and translated into Eastern Armenian. The Government Adoption Committee reserves the right to request additional documentation on a case-by-case basis. Your dossier is hand-delivered to the special committee on adoptions under the Armenian Prime Minister’s Office for approval. Approval times vary. The search for your child can now begin.

Once the child is identified, information will be provided to you about the child’s health. Your referral will consist of 1-2 photographs plus a brief medical and social history.

Upon acceptance of your referral, the child’s documents and your dossier begin the final approval process. This process takes approximately 4-5 months.

After the Prime Minister’s approval is granted, you may travel to Armenia to attend court. The visa is obtained at the US Embassy in Yerevan. Families travel for one trip of about 25 days.

You will be met at the airport and reside in a host apartment or hotel. During your stay you will have the opportunity to experience the culture and typical Armenian family life. You will be assisted every step of the way with an English speaking CAS representative.

The Country

The beautiful country of Armenia borders Azerbaijan, Republic of Georgia and Turkey. The climate is similar to the southeastern section of the United States. Armenia’s terrain is rocky and dry, as evidenced by the architecture and striking structural use of stone.

The country is predominately Orthodox and the people are from fair to dark olive complexion with dark hair.
